Calculate the possible carbon dioxide savings of plastics compared to metal piping systems.

This CO2 Calculator uses data from the report „Life Cycle Analysis Pipes“, conducted by the company ESU-services GmbH, Uster/Switzerland (www.esu-services.ch) on behalf of Georg Fischer Piping Systems in 2008.

It evaluates CO2 emissions incurred during the manufacture of the raw material and the pipe, as well as the transport and disposal, respectively recycling, of different types of pipe (plastic and metal). The installation and application of the pipe is not considered.

The basic data used for the study originates from the "Ecoinvent" database, an internationally recognised source for core environmental data (www.ecoinvent.org).

Pipe dimensions and data have been extracted from publicly published standards and planning fundamentals.
